What the newsletter collects
Short version: your email address, whether you confirmed, and how the emails were received.
Reading the site
Reading odnd.com sets no cookies and loads no analytics, advertising, or social-media scripts. Like any website, the hosting provider processes standard request logs.
When you subscribe
- Your email address.
- Your subscription status (pending, active, or unsubscribed) and when you signed up and confirmed.
- Random tokens that make the confirm and unsubscribe links in your emails work. Confirm links expire after 7 days.
- When confirmation emails were sent to your address, used only to limit repeat sends.
Subscribing is double opt-in: you get one email with a confirmation link, and nothing else is sent until you click it.
When you receive a post
Emails are sent through an email delivery provider. Each email is labeled with the post and your subscriber ID, and the provider reports back delivery events: delivered, opened, link clicked (including which link), bounced, and marked as spam. Those events are stored with your subscription so I can see what’s useful and keep the list healthy. Open tracking relies on images loading, so blocking images in your mail client stops it.
Who handles your data
Your address is used only to send odnd.com email and isn’t sold or shared for anyone else’s use. It’s processed only by the service providers that run the site on my behalf: an email delivery provider (sending email), a database provider (storing subscriber records), and a hosting provider (serving the website).
Unsubscribing and deletion
Every newsletter email has an unsubscribe link. One click on the button there marks your subscription as unsubscribed, and you’re removed from all future sends. If you’d also like your record deleted entirely, reply to any odnd.com newsletter email and ask.
